The gardens designed and built by Goddess Gardens…

Make the most of the fact that gardening is the world’s leading hobby! Every Goddess Garden is built to bring joy, a sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, and a connection back to ourselves through nature. The gardens we build are custom to each client, but always have the basic goals of being functional, beautiful, and created with the intention of gardening with a purpose.

>> Take a look at some of our Goddess Gardens

Before:

This section of the backyard was unmaintained desert landscape. There was no strategy or design to the area, and Jen was very unhappy with how it looked.

Garden Project Goals:

  • Transform this backyard space into a beautiful garden that must be both pretty and interesting.

  • Plant things that would:

    • Feed the family

    • Attract endangered pollinators that our food supply relies on

    • Create the feeling of stepping out of the desert and into The Secret Garden.

Goddess Garden Design Stage 1:

Jen was unsure if she could even grow anything, so she started small with a trough of cucumbers just to see if they would make it. She found herself checking on them every day, looking at the blooms, pollinating them if needed, and she was simply fascinated with watching them grow from seed to sprout to a full vegetable. With her confidence growing along with the cucumbers, Jen tackled the big project—her dream secret garden.

Goddess Garden Design & Build Stage 2:

Jen created a design and began implementing it. The garden would be enclosed, so Jen had a carpenter build the walls and railings that she fitted with wire panels. She shopped for the perfect secret garden door, which was a non-negotiable in the project due to the style and flair it would add. Her son, Cameron, worked with her to build and install the garden boxes. She had her trusted irrigation team install an irrigation watering system, then she got to planting. The design and layout of plants is very strategic. She planted corn at one end of the garden because it is taller and would take all the sun from the rest of the plants if it was at the other end.

After:

It is now so much more than the desert landscape that she started with! Jen has 180 square feet of growing space. Her garden includes corn, artichokes, tomatoes, radishes, Arizona wildflowers, lavender, sunflowers, a variety of squash, passionflowers, snail vine, and more as she is always experimenting with new things every season.

 Before:

The backyard had patchy grass that almost couldn’t be called grass and a large tree in the middle. That was it!

Garden Project Goals:

  • A garden that appeals to both the husband and wife’s differing styles:

    • A lush, secret garden feeling backyard

    • Linear, clean, and organized

    • Garden box for vegetables

After:

Jen designed the whole backyard with pavers, brand new grass, all kinds of plants and trees, as well as a garden. She accomplished both styles by making the bulk of the backyard very linear, but the garden very lush. When it was all done, actual tears of joy were shed by the client at the unveiling. They are very happy with their backyard space now.

“How refreshing it was to finally find a gardening expert who not only listened to our landscape and gardening desires, but actually turned them into a reality. Jen’s experience and attention to detail were critical in the planning, creation, and installation of our backyard oasis and raised bed garden. Her depth of knowledge from soil composition to irrigation requirements and design were astonishing and saved us countless hours of research. Jen’s passion for creating outdoor beauty is contagious, and her talent is incomparable. She is our very own Michelangelo - turning our plain, empty, lackluster yard into a gorgeous, lush, colorful landscape of blooms. I wholeheartedly recommend her without reservation.”

The beauty of every Goddess Garden is in the process and the fruits of the labor at the end.

The process is wonderfully illustrated by the lifecycle of a plant:
Every seed starts with identical sprout leaves, no matter what plant it is.

Two little sprout leaves that all look the same create the beginning of every plant. These sprout leaves symbolize the work to create a Goddess Garden, but when you look beyond the sprout leaves to see the beauty in the rest of it, especially when it starts growing and becoming what it’s meant to be, it’s so magical!

That’s the joy of gardening and why we do what we do.
